10 Quick Questions with Burning Bush Nurseries

We sat down with our new friends at Burning Bush Nurseries to ask them our classic 10 Quick Questions.

1. How was Burning Bush Nurseries born?

Burning Bush was born in November 2011, when I transitioned from being a flower grower into being a clone provider. At the time, everyone in the San Francisco Bay area was trying to grow marijuana. It was getting to the point where clubs weren’t taking on any new vendors and I was beginning to have serious cash flow problems. I quickly realized that the way to survive was to sell baby plants to the influx of new growers that were flooding in to the area from all over the country. I had previously worked for a well-known clone provider based in Oakland, and I used the knowledge that I had acquired through that job to make my own brand. We quickly developed a reputation for quality, and the rest is history.

2. Why was Burning Bush Nurseries created – what is the aim of the company?

Burning Bush was created to provide high-quality starter plants to a growing community of marijuana cultivators.

3. What makes your seeds different?

The genetics that we offer. The strains we choose have broad public appeal, and often have a reputation unto themselves. They include cannabis cup winners and other well known favorites. In addition, our menu is incredibly diverse. We have everything from CBD-rich medicinal strains like Suzy-Q, to top shelf connoisseur strains like Fire OG Kush and Sour Diesel. We have nostalgic old-school favorites like Romulan to new and popular strains like Girl Scout Cookie and Key Lime Pie. Our menu truly has something for everyone!

4. What is your most popular strain?

Our most popular strain is Key Lime Pie. It’s a rare phenotype of Girl Scout cookie, with a reputation for being incredibly frosty and resinous. It’s a medium producer, but the quality is outstanding; and people have come to ask for this strain by name, time and time again.

5. What unique strain would you recommend people try from your collection?

Our most unique strain is probably Suzie-Q. It’s a high CBD strain that boasts a 59-to-1 (CBD-to-THC) ratio in laboratory testing, with 14.96% CBD to 0.25% THC; making it one of the most sought-after CBD strains in existence. As research continues into the applications of medical cannabis, we expect this strain to soar to amazing heights.

6. If you could say why people should buy from Burning Bush in one sentence, what would that sentence be?

Top shelf genetics.

7. Any special/secret cultivation tips that you can let our readers know about?

Our research indicates that levels of the CBD cannabinoid generally peak about one week before THC. We are finding that medicinal patients benefit more when they harvest the plant slightly earlier then a marijuana grower typically would. Also, to the average grower, I would caution that less is usually more. At the end of the day, marijuana is a weed; and it doesn’t need a bunch of fancy equipment in order to grow. Yes, you should keep your grow room very clean. Yes, you should make sure that your environment (temperature, humidity, nutrients, air & water quality, etc…) is sound. But the best growers I know tend to take the simple approach.

8. Do you have any brand new strains soon to be released?

Not at the moment.

9. What does the future hold for Burning Bush?

The future looks very bright for Burning Bush. In addition to offering live plants, we have begun offering our strains in the form of feminized seeds. We are currently looking at other ways of getting our plants directly to the customer, utilizing new shipping methods; but there are legal considerations that prohibit us from moving ahead with those plans right away.
