5 Questions With Green House Seed Co

Seedsman is sitting down with the breeders involved with our 5+5 Promo to learn more about who they are. Up next is Green House Seed Company, a legendary seed breeder famous worldwide.

Seedsman customers have always loved buying Green House seeds for their versatility, yield, and incredible potency. But where did they come from, and what’s coming next?

Here’s what we found out:

A great place to start is the beginning, so how did Green House Seed Company get started?

I was 17 years old and travelling in the north of Thailand and bumped into a Rehab for opium addicts. The owner was a 70-year-old man, and he was treating his patients with Cannabis. I was only looking for a place to sleep for one night but ended up staying there for 7 nights. I had no clue about cannabis and its healing properties.

When I was leaving, he gave me a bunch of seeds in my hand, looked me in the eye, and said, “These seeds will overthrow governments in the future” At that time, I thought he was crazy… Basically that’s how my journey started with breeding and growing Cannabis.

The sun’s out; finally, what 3 seeds would you recommend we check out for this time of year?

We have added much fascinating genetics to our catalogue this year, and we also have a lot in the pipes almost ready to release that we can’t tell you about yet! But if we have to limit the amount to 3, the Cloudwalker, the King’s Juice, and the Dark Phoenix.

The Cloudwalker is a great novelty that we are happy to finally release because it contains some Colombian landrace genetic collected during the expeditions. It really brings an amazing vigor to the cross, a great fruity plant with an earthy background.

The King’s juice is an amazing plant for all the citrus lovers, but with the power and compactness in the flowers from the King’s Kush genetic, that also brings that OG flavor in the cross, a beautiful mix of terpenes.

And the Dark phoenix finally, because it is a mix of two of the biggest cannabis classic strain, and It very often expresses some beautiful dark blue, almost black, and red hues at the end of flowering, in outdoor it could give place to some beautiful color expressions by harvest time.

We love the Flavour Wheel you put together. Can you tell us a bit more about how that came to be?

I remember I was somewhere in Indonesia in a tea/coffee bar where they had something with taste; I liked the idea but never did anything with it. Years later, I was with Franco smoking joint by the campfire at one of our first expeditions, and we were chatting about flavours.

Suddenly, I remembered the tea/coffee bar that I had visited in Indonesia and thought, why don’t we start adding flavours to the strains we have already (A better way to describe them)? That’s how it started, and from that idea, the Flavour Wheel was born. We are starting to make them again for certain shops.

The Strain Hunters is a fantastic forum that’s gone from strength to strength; how did that come about, and what are your future plans with it?

We are fortunate to have an amazing community of growers from all around the world, from first-time beginners to experienced growers that have seen the scene grow at its earliest stage; the mix of all this knowledge and willingness to learn from everybody just makes the perfect balance of passionate people uniting together, to grow together. As Franco often used to say, sharing is caring, and this is what the forum is about; people share photos of the landrace from their remote areas to explain to other people what they are; for example, you could see photos of Russian landrace growing under the snow, Indians member sharing beautiful valleys and charras pictures, even some Japanese growers with their very complicated space situation, a real cannabis library.

We also share all our essential news and latest projects, so for anybody that would like to keep aware of our actuality, it is also the spot to be.

And of course, the grow journals are a very important part of the forum; they allow other members that might be undecided about what strain to grow, and with the grow journal, they can see those strains grown by different people from seed to flower, which is precious information for a grower to know what to expect, definitely a great tool to catch tips and help people in need of advice.

After a crazy year for all of us, what does the future hold for Green House Seed Company?

We have been working Fullgas to keep the brand evolving and create new taste with our breeding projects and a lot of new merchandising, clothing designs, and a lot more to come! Hopefully, we can do another Strain Hunters expedition before the end of the year if the sanitary situation allows us to, which is really important for us as it would be the first one since Franco passed away. We really want to honor his legacy and keep producing some great documentaries for the world to keep learning about this beautiful plant.

We also just opened a great  Lounge in collaboration with Cookies in Amsterdam which is amazing news, and people love it. And we are about to launch a new batch of Seed testing online with some really amazing crosses we have been working on. Stay tuned on our social media to not miss this opportunity!
