So after receiving many kind emails and messages worrying about my safety and some concerned I may be moving around during a time when staying indoors and static is so important, I thought It was time to give you guys all a real-time update.
So the first thing to say is that I am safely back in the UK and have been for some time. I left Asia after it became clear to me that this virus was not contained in China and was starting to spread to Europe and the USA.
For reasons of safety and security we do not post the blogs live while I am in the country, the blogs are currently focusing on. I hope that makes sense to everyone and does not spoil the effect of following along. We are normally running a couple of weeks behind. In the case of India, there was so much content that the blogs have overrun a fair bit and hence the impression that I may still be there during this difficult time.
I returned to the UK a couple of weeks ago just before the outbreak really took hold here. It was a strange thing to return home after leaving a hotspot only to arrive back into the new epicenter in Europe. I am glad I left Asia to come and be with my family although very sad to have to curtail the adventure a little for obvious reasons.
In reality, the virus did not affect the trip too much, it did mean I was unable to visit one country I had planned on, but overall the trip was coming to an end and has been extremely successful from the seed collecting perspective.
I wish to send out my thoughts and concern to all those wonderful people I met through this trip who are now facing difficult and scary times as this virus takes hold and spread across the globe. The ease of travel that makes the kinds of trips I do possible also enables viruses like this one to spread fast and wide…
I hope you have all enjoyed the adventure so far, the upcoming sections on Thailand and Cambodia I hope will give a very different perspective from countries with very different cultures and genetics.
We at Seedsman would like to send our best wishes to all of you and your families and wish you all the best during this time. I hope that the blogs and the Instagram posts give you something to distract yourselves with and hopefully inspire you to make some plans of your own for when this is all over.
