The needle in the haystack

Before I left on my most recent trip, I sat with Tom the owner at Seedsman, and had a great chat about what I was hoping for and asked for his perspective on recent moves in the industry.

When talking about collecting for medical interest and research he mentioned in passing that of course there was always that chance of finding that special strain with some unique combination of cannabinoids which could lead to major changes and massive financial rewards for the person that was lucky enough to make that discovery. The ‘needle in a haystack’ dream of every collector or grower of cannabis genetics.

There is always a chance in life of getting lucky and I was while talking with the guys at Seedsman recently about how we could show our thanks for the support everyone has given this project that I proposed that we should do something special for you all.

Maybe give a lot of you a chance for that needle in a haystack moment….

We are going to give a good number of you a chance to win some of the seeds I collected in the Upper Parvati Valley.  All these seeds were hand collected by myself from plants that we had carefully selected for their interesting qualities and potential as breeding genetics or because they are more likely to be local original genetics. Among them are all kinds of fruity tones with high resin production and strong growth characteristics. My personal favourite is a mango phenotype which some of you will hopefully be lucky enough to find!!!

It was never my intention to give away any of the seeds I was collecting, they are all for testing and evaluation for possible breeding projects or for stabilizing interesting phenotypes and storage to be given back to local farmers at a later date.

However, why shouldn’t we give some of these seeds to you guys, your support and enthusiasm has been great for me throughout the journey and really made it all the more enjoyable blogging as I went and keeping up with you in comments on our Instagram. I’ve also had a large number of requests from you guys for access to the seeds I collected, as for now they will not be commercially available so I decided the best and fairest way to give you access was to do a large giveaway.

So it is with a real sense of happiness that I can confirm that with the help of the guys at seedsman we are going to do this fairly unique giveaway. As far as I know, no major seed company has every given away hand-collected seeds like this. So this is a chance for many of you to get your hands on some real local genetics with the potential for something very special popping.

I need to point out that these are mountain genetics and while I know they have very good germination rates and grow happily at normal grow room temps and conditions and outdoors away from their home region. They are not feminised so males are a possibility and in the past people have brought modern genetics to some parts of these valleys so although care was taken to take these seeds from an isolated area and even after extensive conversations with local farmers it is impossible to know exactly what the background of these genetics are… It is also important to note that there is the chance for a lot of variation and some of the plants are going to grow tall and have longer internode spacing.  All have good resin production and if not allowed to pollinate they will grow large buds and who knows that needle in a haystack moment may happen for you!

I hope you guys are as excited about this opportunity as I and the guys at Seedsman are! I cant wait to see what results you all get in a few months and ill be tempted to send more seeds to those of you who come back with the best photos, results and general honest feedback good and bad.

Once again I want to thank the guys at Seedsman for making this incredible opportunity possible, they have been so busy over the last few difficult months, I know asking them to take on another project like this giveaway was possibly asking a lot, so many thanks to all the team at Seedsman and many thanks to all of you for following along on our little adventure and here is your chance to get your hands on some real mountain genetics fresh collected and given to you with great pleasure by all of us at Seedsman.

The competition is now live and you can enter with the widget below!
